The Turks torture Theoklitos and shoot the Greeks who have gathered in the square. Lucy confesses to Father Gregory the horror she experienced. In the caravan of Murat and Harun, 4 of the prisoners are ordered to dig a pit. Sophia realizes that this is a tomb intended for women. The guards catch the helpless women, and throw them into the pit. Themis, his mother and Sotiria start for the mountain. Passing by the square they see Theoklitos hanging.
