One night in June 1944, the first air raid siren sounded in Kure. As the city gradually became more war-torn, the Hojo and Kariya families decided to jointly dig an air raid shelter. Suzu couldn't help but find Shusaku cool. Her sister-in-law Keiko (Machiko Ono) and Sachiko Kariya (Sari Ito) were not happy with this, and being harsh towards her. Then Suzu learned that Shusaku had another marriage proposal. Suzu accidentally drops some sugar into a water jug ​​while observing ants with Keiko's daughter, Harumi (Inagaki Raizumi).
