The Chapter on Unfaithfulness
Aventer's close friend comes to visit the Grays for some healing after a heartbreaking divorce; John counsels a couple trying to overcome infidelity on their path to the altar.
The Chapter on Miracles
John seeks Aventer's help to counsel a couple suffering from infertility; John works with a woman who has taken in three kids and had two open heart surgeries; Aventer struggles to get John to face his own medical challenges and manage his diabetes.
The Chapter On Making Peace
After speaking with Aventer about the growing rift between police and the black community, John visits the Houston Police Department to open a dialogue. Meanwhile, a desperate father reaches out to John for help with his alcoholic daughter.
The Chapter on Battling Demons
John must confront his own demons when he tries to help a sexual abuse survivor. Later, John enlists his mother-in-law, Bonnie, to get through to a cancer survivor struggling with fear and anger.

John meets with a single mother who is struggling to control her disobedient and rebellious daughter; and Aventer and John play host for the weekend to four teenage boys seeking mentorship.

The Midnight Sermon
John tries to help a heartbroken mother to heal after her son goes to prison; John and Aventer counsel their unlucky-in-love friend, LeToya Luckett; and, on the homefront, John plans the ultimate surprise party for Aventer's 35th birthday.
Into the Storm
The Season 2 premiere. In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, John and Aventer create a non-profit to help victims, including a Lakewood pastor who lost everything in the flood. John also helps reality TV star Tami Roman come to terms with the public image she has created.
The Chapter on Facing Your Fears
John meets a woman grieving the sudden loss of her twin sister and counsels a rebellious teen he's worked with before who has reverted to her disrespectful ways. Aventer choreographs a dance piece for an upcoming Hurricane Harvey relief benefit.
The Chapter on A Mother's Love
When John's out-of-control diabetes lands him in the ER, Aventer offers tough love. Later, John counsels two moms: one who is grief-stricken over the loss of her daughter, and another who is smothering her college-student son with her overbearing ways.

John is enlisted to help a young man and his roommates as they try to navigate the world of sex and dating as faithful Christians; John meets a single mother struggling to raise her special-needs son; AJ Johnson helps John and Aventer with their diet.
The Chapter on 'For Better or For Worse'
John and Aventer work with a couple on the brink of divorce. John helps a veteran with PTSD find the path towards emotional and spiritual healing. LeToya Luckett and her fiancé go to Houston for some pre-marital counseling with John and Aventer.

John pastors a young woman diagnosed with stage two breast cancer who struggles to maintain her faith; and emotions run high when John and Aventer surprise the boys at their annual Teen Weekend, by adding girls and taking away their phones.
Answering the Call
John counsels a struggling married couple who've lost their spark; a worried mom asks for help when her son develops troubling anger issues; and a life-changing offer to take over another church leads to a difficult decision for John and Aventer.
