The German Halligen islands, in the North Sea are threatened by the rise of the sea level, which could lead to their disappearance as Europe's first climatic refugees. These Islands and their inhabitants are exposed to sudden rises of the sea level called "Land Unter" at least 10 to 30 times a year.
