Maria has no idea where Marco is, so she takes it upon herself to authorize the operation for little Jonathan. She discovers the bitter truth: Marco has been lying to her, continuing to film documentaries in war zones. Marco returns to Rome, and Maria is waiting for him at the airport, only to tell him that it's finally over between them.
