Rogue Claimers
Episode 9
A local council is looking at a £65,000 payout over a pothole injury claim, which is exactly the kind of figure that makes insurers and ratepayers wince in equal measure. Rogue Claimers has built its second series on cases where the amounts involved are either jaw-dropping or the brazenness of the claimant is, and this one delivers on both fronts. The farmer’s case is where the episode earns its keep, though. He alleges a bus hit his van, which would be straightforward enough if the bus he’s pointing the finger at didn’t happen to be plastered with cameras. Dashcam and onboard CCTV have become the great equaliser in fraudulent road incident claims, and watching someone pursue a story that the footage simply doesn’t support is the core entertainment loop the show runs on so reliably.
