Gangadhar orders his men to find the culprit of the heinous act immediately. Laxmibai refuses to give Prachis ashes to Vahini Saheb and declares that she would not immerse them until she brings justice for Prachi. Vahini Saheb begs Laxmibai to vent out her pain and cry. Laxmibai remains steadfast and refuses to give the ashes even to Bajjirao. Gangadhar promises Laxmibai to catch the culprit soon. When Sleeman comes to meet Gangadhar, the latter accuses Sleeman of looting them in the name of security. Sleeman retorts that internal security is not the concern of the British. It is announced that anyone who informs the king about the culprit would be awarded 5000 gold coins.
