Farmers on the Up: Cambodia's Commune Elections

In Cambodia June 2017 saw elections to determine membership of local councils across the nation. In recent years these ballots have been dominated by the ruling Cambodian People's Party, led by Prime Minister Hun Sen. But the 11 other parties vying for seats this time included the Grassroots Democracy Party, made up of farmers determined to promote regional development from a rural perspective.
