The American Dream
The name Andretti is synonymous with American motorsport. With a team in Formula E, we'll get under the skin to find out how their American values and heart fit in with a leading modern motorsport series, and how that affects their hotshot Brit Jake Dennis in the battle for World Championship honours.
German Ambitions
With an introduction to the all-electric motorsport, we meet the two German teams with differing expectations for the season. The family-run racing outfit from Bavaria, ABT, just wants to be competitive, whilst the motorsport giant, Porsche, wants to win, win, win.
The Rookies
In a series like Formula E, experience counts - many have tried but few have succeeded. Two new faces join the paddock for Season 9: NEOM McLaren’s Jake Hughes and Nissan’s Sacha Fenestraz. Both are young men trying to prove their worth as we explore their journey on track and in life. We also catch-up with Season 8’s only surviving rookie, Dan Ticktum, as he continues to prove his worth with NIO333.
Lucas Di Grassi – Legacy
As the first driver to sign up to the series and the only driver to pass 1,000 points in the Championship, he is the epitome of what Formula E is about. For seven seasons he was a one-man band, Now, with his third team in as many years, what does the future hold for the man who helped build the sport?
A Matter of Principal
Motorsport dynasty, Maserati, enter Formula E in Season 9, its first racing series in over 60 years. And the person in charge of the team is the youngest Team Principal on the grid. We follow James Rossiter in his very first year in the role. With six crashes in the first six race weekends, how will he deal with the pressure of managing such a huge name within the sport?
Sam Bird – Fight or Flight
Time heals all wounds... Following Sam Bird’s forgettable Season 8 - his only season without a race win - he returns to Season 9 with a spring in his step. A podium finish in the second race of the season shows early signs that the old competitor is back, but disaster strikes, and the Englishman must fight for his season and his place in the sport.
The Customers
In Formula E, teams are either manufacturers or customers. Whist the manufacturers have huge backing, the customers have to show nous and to think differently. Envision are the epitome of that. We look at how they’ll push for both the drivers and constructors Championships with their two very different drivers.
Showdown
As we come to the climax of the season, the action ramps up. With four drivers in the hunt for the championship title heading into the penultimate race weekend, we see drama unfold with crashes and incidents as dreams will be broken but for one, immortality awaits.
