Rectangle vs. Cathedral Ports for LS Power!!

A debate has raged in the LS community for years about the difference in power potential between dime-a-dozen cathedral ports and the "racier" rectangular ports found on the LS3. The rectangles have bigger intake ports, flow numbers, valves and chambers, but what does it all add up to?
