For more than 30 years, the Rotterdam Zoo has been working on a groundbreaking vaccine against the deadly elephant herpes virus. Polar bear female Huggies may have osteoarthritis. To know for sure, she needs to undergo a scan, but that is not an option for a polar bear in the warm summer weather. Fortunately, the keepers have come up with a test; without Huggies having to go under anesthesia.
