The sisters are informed that they're going to have a formal in San Francisco. Because Leslie is graduating, she wants to make sure that this formal is absolutely perfect. The pledges head to the mall together to find something to wear. During the course of their outing, the girls are flipping out about who to bring to the dance. Dede speaks to her mom and finds out that her uncle died. Jordan hears the news, and suddenly feels like there is something wrong with her family, as well. When she calls her mom to ask if everything is OK, she finds out that her grandmother has passed away. The girls are very upset about everything, but they decide that they should still go to the formal and have a good time. The day of the dance arrives, and the girls drive to their hotel in San Francisco. Jordan and Mara drive there first and decide that the hotel room is too nasty and dirty to stay in overnight.
