kidlit

Also known as Chie Fukami, 深水チエ

kidlit is a Japanese female songwriter, arranger, and pianist born in Tokyo. She began studying classical piano at the age of three and grew up immersed in books, drawing, and musical improvisation. She graduated top of her class in Musicology from Kunitachi College of Music, receiving the Arima Prize, and later completed a master's degree at Ochanomizu University with a thesis on film music analysis. She started composing and performing under the name Chie Fukami (深水チエ), adopting kidlit as her solo sound‑works moniker in 2016. A fully self‑producing artist —handling composition, performance, vocals, mixing, and mastering— she consistently releases works that blend piano, synthesizers, and everyday sounds across post‑classical, modern French, electronic, jazz, and pop influences. In scoring for visual media, she draws on her academic background and classical training to craft music that closely supports the imagery.
