An economist by training, a director by passion, and a film buff. In 2001, his first short film, "Be Flexible," won him an award at the Motovun Festival in Croatia, among others. Three years later, his feature debut, "Tu pa tam" (Here and There), made on a near-zero budget, became a huge hit in Slovenia, gained wide distribution, and was screened at numerous European film festivals. In 2007, he received a British Council nomination for the International Young Film Entrepreneur of the Year Award (IYFEY) and was featured in Screen International magazine as a European Star of Tomorrow. That same year, the Polish broadcaster TVN invited him to direct the immensely popular series "39 ​​i pół" (39 and a Half), and later invited him to collaborate on the project "Letters to Santa." Mitja Okorn has also directed numerous commercials and award-winning music videos. He has been living and working in Poland since 2007.
