Fred Curry

Also known as Fred Curry

Fred "Flying" Curry (Fred Thomas Koury Jr.), born in 1943, is an American professional wrestler of Lebanese descent and the son of the famous "Wild Bull" Curry. Unlike his father, Fred adopted a clean-cut, high-flying style, becoming one of the most popular wrestlers of the 1960s and '70s, especially in the Midwest U.S. and in Texas, where he teamed up with Fritz von Erich. Known for his dropkicks and aerial moves, he was voted the most popular wrestler in the world in 1972. He wrestled both alongside his father—winning titles like the NWA International Tag Team Championship—and as a solo star, trying to distance himself from his father's rough style. He also had a major rivalry with The Sheik. His son, Fred Curry III, is continuing the family tradition, trained by Dory Funk Jr., and currently competes in the independent wrestling circuit in the Northeastern United States.
