She was previously chair of the exam regulator Ofqual from 2011 to 2016, and a founding member of the leadership team at the multi-academy trust Ark Schools. Before that she spent more than 15 years in strategy consulting, finance and investment. She is a trustee of the Victoria & Albert Museum.
