Paco Tolson

Also known as M. Paco Tolson, Michael Tolson

Originally from Amherst, Massachusetts, Paco attended Brown University and earned a degree in Theatre Arts. He promptly moved to New York City and lived in Brooklyn where he made his name Off-Broadway as a highly sought-after character actor. Paco attended the Williamstown Theatre Festival, became a member of the seminal Ensemble Studio Theatre, and worked for many years with the infamous physical theatre company Vampire Cowboys as well as the groundbreaking Ma-Yi Theater. Paco (who is Black, Jewish, and Chinese) enjoyed great flexibility in casting thanks to the fluidity of his look and his facility with Spanish. He recently joined Fiasco Theater's critically acclaimed acting company. Paco received an Independent Theater Award for his work in the ensemble of Fight Girl Battle World (Vampire Cowboys) and a nomination for best supporting actor in The Brokenhearteds (Wings Theater). In 2009, NYTHEATRE.COM honored him as a "Person of The Year." In 2017 he was nominated for Off-Broadway's Lucille Lortel Awards in the category of Best Featured Actor for his work on Manhattan Theatre Club's premiere of Vietgone. TimeOutNY has called him "A New York Treasure." In addition to developing new American plays and reimagining classical work Off-Broadway, Paco continues to work on-camera in films, commercials, web content, premium cable and network television shows. Paco is married to writer/director Kate Marks and is an associate with her production company See Films. Kate is a recipient of the prestigious 2020 Academy Nicholl Fellowship for her feature screenplay The Cow of Queens.
