Mykyta Kuzmenko is a Ukrainian cinematographer, born, raised, and educated in Kyiv, Ukraine. He earned a master’s degree from the Kyiv National I.K. Karpenko-Kary Theatre, Cinema and Television University. Kuzmenko then continued his education at the Andrzej Wajda Film School through the Gaude Polonia scholarship. In 2013, together with Ukrainian director Ostap Kostyk and cinematographer Olexandr Pozdnyakov, he began filming the documentary Living Fire, which won the Special Jury Award at the Hot Docs Film Festival (Toronto, Canada) and the Best Cinematography Award at the Golden Dzyga Ukrainian National Film Awards. In 2016, Kuzmenko enrolled in the Global Cinematography Institute in Los Angeles. After three years in the cinematography program, he began working on commercials and music videos for international brands in the United States. In September 2022, he won the Best Cinematography Award at the MTV Video Music Awards for his work on Harry Styles’ As It Was music video, directed by Tanu Muino. In May 2022, Kuzmenko’s feature debut Pamfir premiered in the Directors’ Fortnight section at the Cannes Film Festival. In December of the same year, Pamfir won the Best Cinematography Award at the Raindance Film Festival in London.
