Dr. Jon LaPook is a U.S. television journalist for CBS and a board-certified physician in internal medicine and gastroenterology with an active practice in New York City. He joined CBS in 2006 as the Medical Correspondent for the "CBS Evening News with Katie Couric," subsequently becoming the network's Chief Medical Correspondent in 2013 after his coverage of the critical shortage of key pharmaceuticals across the United States garnered several awards. Since then he has regularly appeared on "60 Minutes," "CBS This Morning," the "CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley," CBS Radio, and CBSN. He was a Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center from 1986 to 2013, leaving to join the faculty at NYU Langone Medical Center as the Mebane Professor of Gastroenterology.
