Piotr Marczewski, born on 13 August 1938 in Łódź, was a Polish composer, pianist, and conductor who studied piano, music theory, composition, and conducting at the State Higher School of Music in Łódź. His career began in the student theatre “Pstrąg,” and he went on to become a notable figure in Polish film and television music, composing scores for productions such as The Quack, Kariera Nikodema Dyzmy, Far from the Highway, Vacations with Ghosts, and the children’s animation TV series Przygody kota Filemona. Known for a style that became closely associated with many Polish screen works, he also served as a musical consultant on various film projects. Marczewski died on 19 September 2022 at the age of 84, and in 2025 his contribution to Polish culture was recognized with a commemorative star in the Łódź Walk of Fame.
