Song Chenchen, born in 1942, was a dancer of the National Ballet of China. Since childhood, she was interested in literature and art, and wished to work in music. In 1954, the Beijing Dance School selected then 12-year-old song Chenchen to study ballet. In 1964, Song Chenchen was selected to play the company commander in the ballet "Red Detachment of Women". In 1971, the Beijing Film Studio filmed the ballet movie "The Red Detachment of Women", and Song Chenchen (credited as Song Chen) reprised her role. Later, Song Chenchen has been teaching ballet and insisted on practicing.
